This form of massage is more energizing and rigorous than classic forms of massage. For centuries, Thai massage was performed by monks as one component of Thai medicine. It is referred to as Thai Yoga massage because the therapist uses their hands, knees, legs, and feet to position the patient into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people claim that Thai massage is like yoga without any work. Muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure are also used during this treatment. It is usually performed on a padded mat on the floor. No oil is applied and the patient is fully dressed. A typical Thai massage is 60 minutes to two hours long. If you are interested in this type of treatment, I would suggest that you wear comfortable clothing. All Thai massage treatments are provided by Steven Erdei, RN, Thai massage therapist.
